I've been learning, toying with, and building Drupal websites for several years now. Throughout this time I've had to rely on the Drupal community to learn the ins and outs of this framework. It's about time I start giving back by blogging what I've learned in the hope that the next new Drupal user has an easier road ahead of them.

There's always more to learn with Drupal so I hope that this sparks the desire in others to share as well.

Below are various blog posts that talk 'about' myself and or this blog.

Comment notification enabled

With the recent transition for foggy perspective from posterous to drupal 7 one of the features I lost was the ability for readers to subscribe to comments.  The comment notify module has recently released a D7 version so I've installed and enabled that.

Now all I need are readers and commenters.  :-)

Foggy Perspective is now on Drupal 7

Wow... I've been busy the past few months and haven't had a chance to post any drupal goodness.  I've been wanting to get back into that habit and drupal 7 provided the perfect opportunity. Up until today I had been running my drupal blog on posterous.  Posterous has served well this past year.  And while I'm all for choosing the right tool for the job, it probably makes more sense for me to use drupal for a drupal blog.  :-)

The right tool for the job?

Several folks have asked why I'm not using Drupal for a Drupal-based blog.  The simple answer is another tool met my requirements.  At least I thought it had...

It's often asked on the drupal.org forums whether Drupal can be used for such-and-such type of site.  Drupaleers typically respond with the affirmative and then someone else chimes in about another package being better.  The arguments and flames begin.  And so on and so on...

The goal is to determine the immediate needs, consider future needs, and then evaluate multiple packages.  Something other than Drupal may fit the bill perfectly where-as Drupal may be overkill.

A (Re)Introduction

Given that Foggy Perspective is evolving into a Drupal based blog, I figured this is as good an opportunity as any to reintroduce myself.  I'll try to keep it short and sweet.

Hi... I'm Craig.  Some of my friends call me asch (short for Aschbrenner).  I'm an IT Analyst (consultant, etc.) and have been playing with computers since my dad first bought one back when I was in early grade school.  I cheer for the Illini where I graduated from but don't make it back very often since I live in the South.  I'm married to an awesome woman who puts up with me and I have a son who will be six months next week!

Foggy Perspective is back! ... and different...

For my few readers out there you've probably noticed that Foggy Perspective has been quiet for quite some time now.  Work has been busy as always and the newest addition to my life is definitely where I spend any free-time.  I still try to keep up on the latest webtech but there has been little time to blog about it.
